After an interminably long wait, Konami has finally pulled back the curtain on the long-awaited Silent Hill 2 remake. In addition to announcing the survival horror game’s release date and showcasing extensive new gameplay, the company has also shared a message straight from the game’s developer, Bloober Team, with a new video.
The video shows several members of the remake’s development team speaking about the process of working on it, starting with the challenges of developing the remake in a manner that appeals to both newcomers and longtime fans of the original. As per the developers, though Silent Hill 2’s remake is dedicated to preserving the original’s narrative and atmosphere, plenty of changes have been made in the gameplay department.
Chief among them, of course, is the fact that unlike the original’s fixed cameras, the remake features a new over-the-shoulder perspective. The video goes on to talk about improvements made to the game’s design, combat, cutscenes, and other areas, as well as tweaks made to things such as the game’s iconic (and oppressive) fog. Check out the video below.
Silent Hill 2 launches for PS5 and PC on October 8.
