On this day in the year 2000, the Dark Wanderer began his journey to the East to end the Dark Exile of the Prime Evils and unleash Terror upon the world. Even after twenty-four years, Diablo 2 is still highly regarded by many as one of the best games ever made.
Taking the world by storm, Diablo 2 cemented itself as a titan of gaming. Diablo 2 spurred on countless LAN parties of players doing Campaign walks and Chaos runs, packed internet cafes, and provided inspiration for many Dungeons and Dragons Campaigns. The game even drew in the modding and game development crowd with the likes of Project Diablo 2, Median XL, and was the muse for many other games to follow suit in the ARPG genre.
In the spirit of celebrating Diablo 2's 24th Anniversary, all of us here in Wowhead's Diablo division would like to share some of our fontest memories of the game that changed everything. So come take a stroll down memory lane with us and listen to the beautiful ambiance of the Rogue Encampment, courtesy of Youtube Content Creator Age of Ambience!
