Electronic Arts' Motive Studio is moving to work on the Battlefield franchise.
In a post on the publishing giant's website, Motive's general manager Patrick Klaus (pictured) said that the developer would be joining series creator DICE, in addition to Criterion and Ripple Effect. The studio is building a team to work on the Battlefield series, though it's not clear whether this is its own title or a multi-developer effort.
Motive's Battlefield team will be led by the folks who helmed its remake of Dead Space; executive producer Philippe Ducharme and creative director Roman Campos-Oriola.
"[They] will build a team at Motive to work alongside the Battlefield studios around the world creating what’s next for Battlefield– a universe across both multiplayer and single-player experiences," Klaus wrote.
"Their proven expertise in storytelling, immersive battles and developing on the Frostbite engine uniquely positions them to help advance the vision for Battlefield, led by Vince Zampella and Byron Beede."
Klaus added by saying that development is still continuing on its Iron Man project.
"The team made excellent progress this year, hitting a major internal milestone and laying a robust foundation for the journey ahead. Iron Man is an important priority for Motive, and I’m very proud of the work we’ve accomplished so far."
Motive joining the Battlefield franchise comes shortly after Ridgeline Games was shut down and its founder, development vet Marcus Lehto, left EA. That studio was working on a Battlefield project.
