EA has announced it will be «restructuring», which is the corporate-approved way of saying it will be laying off as many as 775 employees.
CEO Andrew Wilson, in a letter to staff that was later made public on EA's website, describes EA as «operating from a position of strength» but wants to move away from «projects that do not contribute to our strategy», which will necessitate «restructuring some of our teams,» and is estimated to impact around 6% of EA's total workforce
EA will attempt to transition employees affected to other roles within the company, with those that can't be moved instead offered «severance pay and additional benefits such as health care and career transition services.»
Layoffs have been rife in the industry lately, with Take-Two doing some «restructuring» of its own recently. Wish all those affected the best and decry corporate mismanagement in the comments section below.
