Following a Destiny 2 content leak at a recent creator summit, developer Bungie has put its foot down, promising to get tougher in the future. A high-profile Destiny 2 streamer and YouTuber, Ekuegan, has reportedly been accused by the company of leaking information pertaining to the Bungie Community Summit in a private Discord server, a version of events that the content creator vehemently denies.
On Twitter, Bungie addressed the situation:
Ekuegan is held in some esteem within the community for the notable feat of having run over 6000 Grandmaster Nightfalls, a particularly punishing form of PVE content requiring a high level of skill. He has previously attended three other creator summits at Bungies' invitation. He maintains he was not the leaker and was, in fact, framed by a Discord user known to have disseminated the leaked information, which pertains to the title's next season of content.
Speaking to Forbes, Ekuegan was consistent in maintaining the «why» of it all, explaining: «I'm in so many NDAs [at the moment], why would I breach any? It's part of the job. I spent 14,000 hours on this game, multiple hours helping people in Grandmasters.”
It's an unfortunate situation, but one which Bungie, at least, considers closed. Community manager Liana Ruppert put to words the kind of toll this kind of thing can take on developers:
