Strategize in the sands of Arrakis and rise to power in Dune: Spice Wars . The new real-time 4X strategy title has left Early Access and fully launched, adding a brand new playable faction, and additional content.
Shiro Games and Funcom have added House Ecaz as the sixth playable faction for launch. This house’s strengths lie in its art mastery, strategic expansion, and a highly-trained military. One of their Villages can be named a garden resort, which will increase their knowledge and influence. This house can also build masterpieces in villages, and even a single military unit can become a Champion. Their mechanics do include strengths and weaknesses, but this house is definitely different from what has been added before and should add additional flavor as the game launches.
After a year and a half in Early Access, with Shiro adding new features, new factions, like House Corrino, Conquest Mode (campaign), and a slew of new buildings, units, and consistent improvements and sometimes reworks, we’ve arrived at launch day. The team also emphasizes the mountains of community feedback given over the development period to help get things into shape.
It makes sense that, in getting ready to launch, that those reworks and polish efforts continue. In the 1.0 patch, there are balance changes, a full rework of the development tree content, as well as development cost scaling. There are number of other reworks in the patch too, including to that most important of resources, water. There’s even a new building, the Dew Collector, which adds +3 Water, available from the start. Reworks and improvements come for sketches, storms, assassinations, and more.
