Dreams has been an interesting experiment for PlayStation, being more of a creation tool than an actual game. Media Molecule, the team behind the LittleBigPlanet series, expressed that Dreams was to be used by players in a variety of different ways. This is an aspect of the game that fans have gravitated toward the most, with projects ranging from small indie games based on other franchises, or even being used by other companies for large scale projects like feature films.
One of the most common uses of Dreams when it comes to the topic of fan-games, however, is translating a franchise dominant on one platform to the PlayStation 4. While companies like Nintendo have been more apprehensive to players creating fan-games in Dreams, evident by cracking down on Mario games with takedown requests, it seems Microsoft is a tad more lenient with franchises from the Xbox library are represented in Dreams, particularly Halo.
Sonic Fan Creates Chao Garden Mini-Game in Dreams
One fan project in particular has been quite popular with players since it's unveiling. On Reddit, user DISARMEDPOST posted a work in progress video where they recreated Halo Infinite inDreams. The post was then re-uploaded to the r/halo subreddit sometime later by user hantar7788, which currently sits at a 95% upvote.
While the video is short and doesn’t offer much in terms of heart-pounding action and spectacle that Halo is typically known for, fans are still taken aback by how incredible the Dreams project looks so far. The photorealistic visuals and accurate depiction of Master Chief’s armor and UNSC rifle are excellently detailed, and appear to be a promising start to where the project can go.
