Halo Infinite may have had a massive launch late last year, but it’s struggling to keep its players on Steam.
Steam's public statistics page shows that Halo Infinite has a daily high of just 30,000 players, and routinely has closer to 15,000 playing. Compared to the top games on Steam that routinely have 250,000 to a million daily players, this means that Halo Infiinite is in the bottom 20% of the Top 100 games on the platform.

Of course, this only tells a part of the story, as this is players on Steam. Halo Infinite is included as part of the PC Game Pass, which doesn't count towards Steam statistics, and therefore there's probably many more players playing on there. And of course even more are playing on Xbox Series X/S, where it's in the top five most played games on Game Pass. 343 Industries has announced that Halo Infinite had the biggest launch in the history of the franchise, and as of January 25th over 20 million people have played the game so far.
The game has also struggled to find much of an audience on Twitch, recently coming in at only the 45th most-watched game on the platform. That means it's being outperformed by years-older titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2. It's surprising to see for a game that's otherwise doing so well.
But this is just the start for Halo Infinite, which is still missing content that gamers are expecting. It has many new game modes on the way, including the recently leaked Tactical Ops game modes. These will offer versions of Tactical Slayer where players can only use one specific weapon, such as Sidekicks or Manglers. Whether this will be a random playlist or not is still up in the air, but the developer will undoubtedly reveal
