Starting today through next Thursday, the Epic Games Store is offering a free digital copy of Dragon Age: Inquisition Game of the Year Edition. This version of BioWare's RPG includes all the post-launch DLCs: Jaws of Hakkon, The Descent, and Trespasser. The last two, in particular, are absolutely vital to fully understanding the storyline, which is expected to continue in the upcoming Dragon Age: Dreadwolf.
Dragon Age: Inquisition is the third installment in the RPG franchise. It was the first BioWare game to utilize the Frostbite engine when it launched in November 2014. The game earned widespread acclaim, winning over 130 Game of the Year awards and becoming BioWare's most successful release in terms of units sold.
While this isn't the first time the game has been given away (it already happened in October 2021 via Amazon's Prime Gaming), the timing of this new promotion is fairly obvious: EA and BioWare are enticing any potential users who still haven't checked out the game to do so ahead of the long-awaited gameplay reveal of the next installment, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, which will happen at some point next month during Summer Game Fest. The last rumors suggest that the game's launch will happen this year, and they also hint at a strong level of satisfaction regarding the level of quality.
Dragon Age: Inquisition Game of the Year Edition is the first freebie of the latest Epic Games Store MEGA Sale, which runs through June 13. The next game is still clouded in mystery, but in the meantime, users can enjoy substantial discounts on many big games. All eligible purchases (including in-game purchases) also provide 5% back as part of the Epic Rewards program.
By the way, the Epic Games Store is not the only place to get free PC games: Amplitude Studios is now giving away 2014's turn-based 4X fantasy-strategy game ENDLESS Legend on Steam.
