Ravensburger has revealed its plans for the upcoming PAX Unplugged convention, and it includes, among other things, the debut of a brand new format for Disney Lorcana.
Formats are effectively rulesets on how to play a trading card game, and define things like how many players are involved, deckbuilding restrictions, and the introduction of entirely new mechanics. Though the specifics on how the format plays still aren’t revealed, it evokes similarities to Grand Melees at Magic events, which is effectively a battle royale where players are knocked out until one one remains. Alternatively, it could be more of a duel-type scenario, where you keep facing off against opponents with the same resources until you’re eventually taken out.
More information about the Willpower League, as well as tracking wins during PAX Unplugged, will be available via the recently opened official Lorcana Discord. The event itself is already sold out, but any spare seats will be made available in Hall C should they become available.
If you don’t want to check out Willpower League, free open play areas for Lorcana will be available throughout Friday and Sunday.
