The patch notes for Diablo IV’s patch 1.1.1 are here,as promised. The team released the notes ahead of the patch going live next week on August 8th.
After the very negative reception for the 1.1 patch before Season 1 launched, and two live Dev streams later, we now know what's coming in the next update, how classes will be affected, and what other improvements and changes are on the way.
The patch notes are accompanied by developer notes in areas that need more explanation, and some of the notes cover items that were subject to some of the recent negative feedback. One of the changes reverses the Leave Dungeon teleport time increase, reverting it back to 3 seconds. Dungeon teleports, according to the team, were “being used as another method of easy escape from danger in dungeons, particularly for Hardcore players”, but nearly doubling the time made the game “feel less responsive”.
The most significant updates are to class balance, helping to boost Barbarian and Sorcerer to help their effectiveness and survivability. This adjusts some previous changes and lets them be more viable, but the team also wants to address some of the issues that they had originally intended to fix that led to harsh changes in the first place.
Barbarian changes were focused on speeding up flow and pace of combat in the early game and also increasing Fury generation to make them more viable. For Sorcerer, which got some big changes since launch, one of the important shifts in development philosophy is this: “Adjust some Class mechanics to move away from “Kiss-Curse” effects—this is where the player gains power but loses power somewhere else”.
Aside from the class changes and a few reversals, there are a number of helpful changes coming.
