Liverpool fans may not have enjoyed their trip to Anfield this evening, but Bungie will be stoked to see Destiny 2: Lightfall take top billing during the game. Very little has come of Sony’s acquisition of the legendary developer since the deal closed last year, but slowly we’re beginning to see the studio showered with some of the platform holder’s plentiful marketing bucks.
PlayStation is, of course, a principal partner of the Champions League – arguably the most prestigious club football competition in the world. And during this week’s round of fixtures, it chose to rotate between its usual PS5 hoardings and Destiny 2: Lightfall’s logo. The expansion is, of course, due out later this month – meanwhile Destiny 2: Beyond Light is currently free with PS Plus.
In other loosely related news, Bungie has confirmed that the launch trailer for its newest add-on will debut during this week’s State of Play. The synergy between Sony and its latest studio is starting to show, then – it’ll be interesting to see how this relationship matures over the coming months and years.
