The Soulslike genre may have been niche at one point in time, but that couldn’t be further from the truth now- you only need to look at Elden Ring’s sales if you want proof of that. Another Soulslike action RPG has recently launched in Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo’s Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, and unsurprisingly, it’s doing quite well for itself right off the bat as well.
As per SteamDB, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty enjoyed a peak concurrent user count of over nearly 76,000 players on Steam on launch day (75,906, to be precise), which is far higher than what Team Ninja’s previous two Soulslike games have seen to date, with Nioh currently sitting at a peak of over 10,000 players, and Nioh 2 at a peak of over 41,000 players (though of course, neither of those two was a simultaneous release, with both having been available on PlayStation for a while before coming to PC).
Given the fact that Wo Long is also available via PC Game Pass, the engagement it’s seeing on Steam is impressive to see, to say the least. It remains to be seen how well the game is doing on consoles.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Read our review of the game through here.
