Undertale and Deltarune developer Toby Fox has given fans an unfortunate update on how work on the latter title is going, stating that there won't be any new chapters releasing this year. Deltarune released its first chapter back in 2018, three years after the explosive success of Undertale. Three years later, Deltarune Chapter 2 launched for free following a Nintendo Direct presentation back in 2021. While there was a three-year gap between the release of chapter 1 and 2, some fans had been hoping that a new lot of content could be coming in 2022.
The speculation around Deltarune Chapter 3 has been rife on the internet, with Toby Fox giving somewhat consistent updates on the game. However, in his latest Twitter post, he confirmed that there would be no new chapters for this year. Fox didn't give a date on when fans could get a release date for Deltarune Chapter 3, but if the launch is anything like the previous chapters, it will likely come as somewhat of a surprise.

Something that Fox did comment on was that fans could expect «something special» for the anniversary of Undertale and Deltarune's second chapter. What this could be is unknown, but with Fox's final sentence saying he'll see fans next week, it seems they'll be getting more information then. With Fox marking the «something special» as a celebration of both Undertale and Deltarune, it seems he is reinforcing the idea that the two are connected in more ways than just their aesthetic.
