Xbox Boss Phil Spencer denies that the company will be raising the prices of its consoles, for now. Back in August, the news broke that Sony would be increasing the price of its PS5 console across multiple regions. While these increases weren't too drastic, and current financial predictions believe that they won't affect Sony's sales too much, many gamers were still fearful that this would result in a price rise across all the major platform owners. However, it seems that Sony may be standing alone on this decision.
Following the news that Sony was raising the prices of the PS5 digital and disc editions, Nintendo and Xbox both made statements denying that they would be following suit. Nintendo's UK arm did not promise anything regarding its pricing strategy, but said that for now there were no plans to raise Switch prices. These price rises didn't just come out of the blue, and Sony attempted to justify its decision to increase the cost of the PS5 due to hardware shortages across the world, which have caused serious supply chain issues.

In a new interview with CNBC, Xbox Boss Phil Spencer was again asked about potentially increasing the cost of the Xbox Series S and X. Spencer said that there are «no plans today» to raise the price of either console, but it doesn't seem that this is a permanent decision. Spencer couldn't rule out the idea of increasing the price of Xbox consoles in the future, stating that the company can't say that it will «never do something.»
