Microsoft confirms that it hasn’t given up on bringing Final Fantasy 14 to Xbox consoles. Final Fantasy 14 is one of the most popular MMORPGs in the industry, and it saw massive growth with the release of the Endwalker expansion in 2021.
As of now, Final Fantasy 14 is only available on PC and PlayStation consoles. Microsoft had expressed interest in the game in the past and Phil Spencer had mentioned that Final Fantasy 14 will come to Xbox around three years ago. However, an Xbox version has not been officially announced as of today. In a recent interview, Phil Spencer commented on Final Fantasy 14 and gave players a promising update on the status of the Xbox version.

In the interview conducted by Game Watch, and later reported by Video Games Chronicle, Phil Spencer confirms that Microsoft hasn’t given up on bringing Final Fantasy 14 to Xbox. He mentions that both Microsoft and Square Enix are committed to the fans and will continue to coordinate in the future. He doesn’t go into any details or share any more information, so it looks like fans will have to wait longer to get a concrete answer.
The rest of the interview deals with Xbox Game Pass and Xbox consoles selling well in Japan, with specific mention of the sales performance of the Xbox Series S. The interviewer also asked about the availability of Call of Duty games on PlayStation, which has been a heated topic of discussion for the past few months. Phil Spencer then confirmed that Call of Duty will continue to “live on PlayStation,” before mentioning that the series will be compatible with Xbox Game Pass.
Final Fantasy 14 producer Naoki Yoshida also gave an update on the Xbox version of the game in 2021.
