Deadpool 3's Ryan Reynolds says he is still hopeful for a Hugh Jackman Wolverine crossover and asks fans to write to Kevin Feige to make it happen. Reynolds first brought the iconic Merc with a Mouth to life in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which received generally negative reviews from critics and audiences alike for its major departure from the character's comic book persona. After lobbying for years to get an R-rated solo movie off the ground, Reynolds would get a second chance with 2016's Deadpool, which was loosely set in Fox's X-Men franchise and was a critical and commercial hit.
This success would help spawn Deadpool 2, which saw a similar wave of acclaim and large box office haul, paving the way for a third installment and a spin-off movie for the X-Forceteam. However, plans for Deadpool 3 and X-Force were put into doubt as Disney acquired 21st Century Fox and the rights reverted to Marvel Studios, though the former would be confirmed with Bobs Burgers alum Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin were brought on to pen the script for the threequel and will be set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As work continues on the superhero movie, those behind Deadpool 3 are putting out their hopes for a key element of the franchise's future.
