Warning: spoilers ahead for I Am Batman #5
In the DC Comics series, I Am Batman, Jace Fox, the son of Bruce Wayne’s old confidant Lucius Fox has decided to take over the mantle of Batman. While Fox presents a number of attributes that will undoubtedly prove important and necessary in his development as a superhero, issue #5 from John Ridley, Christian Duce, Juan Ferreyra, Laura Braga, Rex Lokus, and ALW's Troy Peteri points out just how hardcore Bruce Wayne was on many levels, and just how far Fox will need to go if he truly desires to become the Next Batman.
Unlike some members of the Bat-Family, like his brother Luke Fox, aka Batwing, Jace Fox did not actively seek the role of the Next Batman. Rather, he backed into the role by accident. After years of estrangement from his family, Fox was invited back into the family fold, after his father gained control of Bruce Wayne’s businesses and fortune in the aftermath of the Joker War. Having developed a desire to fight the good fight but with no exact plan of how to accomplish it back in Gotham, Fox stumbled onto an abandoned Wayne Industries laboratory that housed an advanced Bat-suit and other tech gadgetry. With Gotham and the world, believing the original Batman to be dead, Fox decided the best way to accomplish his goals was to do it under the guise of Batman himself.
