Wizards of the Coast finally unveiled fans' first look at the limited edition alternative cover for the of ' and it's absolutely stunning. The tabletop role-playing game has made a habit of releasing collectible versions of some its most popular rules books and adventures, allowing avid players to enjoy artwork that's unavailable in the standard release. It was expected that the team would do the same for the highly anticipated revised version of but it's doubtful that anyone expected it to be so unique.
Revealed by Polygon,the alternative cover, illustrated by Wylie Beckert, depicts a party of adventurers setting up camp alongside a friendly Gold Dragon who appears to be helping the group brew a fresh pot of tea.
It's a cosy, homely setting that resembles an historical etching, a perfect fit for a game that's so established and evolved so many medieval fantasy tropes. The limited edition cover, as well as the standard edition of the new, will only be available in brick and mortar stores on September 3, two weeks before it's availble to purchase online.

In this way, the designers wanted to spotlight a cosier, quiet moment in a campaign given that characters and story-telling are such a core pillar of the experience. In addition to the stunning artwork, the limited editions of the and will all sport a unique golden border to celebrate the game's 50th Anniversary.
