Card battlers, it’s time to celebrate. The well-loved Indie game Vault of the Void is releasing on Android on June 22, 2024. This roguelike deckbuilder promises a refreshing change from the genre’s usual reliance on luck.
Created by solo developer Josh Bruce, who freely admits he had zero programming experience before building Vault of the Void, the game has already found success on PC, selling over 130,000 copies and getting positive reviews.
So, what makes Vault of the Void different? Instead of leaving victory to the whims of the digital card gods, it puts the power squarely in your hands. You’ll still build a deck of cards for each run, but unlike other roguelikes, you can tweak your strategy throughout your adventure. You can analyze each enemy and set up your strategy before starting out.
Build a deck of over 440 cards, choosing from 4 distinct classes, each with its own playstyle. Maybe the sneaky assassin cards from the Shadow Deck are a better fit than your spellcasting build, so take your pick. You get to battle over 90 monsters as you make your way to The Void.
Additionally, the game lets you discard unwanted cards to generate more energy, fueling those powerful combos you plan. Vault of the Void’s threat system lays out how much damage you’ll take at the end of your turn.
The creatures you fight raise your threat level. Play block cards to reduce your threat and decide between going all-out on offense or saving yourself from a beating. You can bolster your strategies with over 320 artifacts and infuse your cards with Void Stones to unlock even more possibilities.
