It's been a while since we heard anything about Cyberpunk 2077 or its upcoming expansion, Phantom Liberty — which is still supposed to be releasing this year. But if Steam database logs are to be believed, then CD Projekt Red's silence could soon be broken.
As pointed out on Reddit, the game's changelist shows that a number of edits have been made recently — with the latest alteration being logged just yesterday, at the time of writing. Now, these developer edits don't guarantee the arrival of a major patch, but given the frequency of these recent adjustments, some fans believe that news could be coming in the near future.
Okay, so why is Cyberpunk 2077's 1.7 update so anticipated in the first place? Well, as reported back in September, CDPR said that the game's next big update would bring notable gameplay additions and improvements.
It's going to overhaul the title's rather stunted police system, and rework vehicle combat. What's more, we've been promised better melee mechanics alongside changes to cyberware. All of this will, supposedly, pave the way for the aforementioned Phantom Liberty expansion.

We don't know how close the launch of Phantom Liberty will be to the deployment of this patch, but we are due some fresh details from CDPR. The update could, potentially, drop along with the expansion itself, but we highly doubt that Phantom Liberty will arrive without a significant marketing push.
