Over the last few days, a rumour has been going around with regards to a release date for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty — the anticipated expansion that's almost certainly going to appear at Summer Game Fest in June. Said rumour is based on a Polish podcast, in which the hosts kind-of-maybe-but-not-quite say that the DLC could drop in that same month.
It's certainly not implausible, but a June launch would mean that developer CD Projekt Red is banking on a very short marketing campaign. We've never been quite sold on the idea, especially since another RPG, Final Fantasy XVI, is set to dominate late June.
However, the company hasn't shut this particular rumour down. Highlighting the situation on Twitter, community director Marcin Momot neither confirms nor denies the speculation, simply stating: «As for the launch date, we don't comment on rumours.»
We're not sure how to read this, really — or maybe everyone's just reading too far into it to begin with. In any case, it's incredibly likely that Phantom Liberty will be dated at the aforementioned Summer Game Fest event, so we won't have to wait long for official confirmation on all of this.
