Apple has released iOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3 updates to all iPhones and iPads running on iOS 15 generation, fixing a crucial issue that raised alarms regarding security and data privacy. The update needs to be manually downloaded on your iPhone and iPad from the Settings menu.
The major bug that this update fixes is related to the Safari browser. Earlier, it was detected that hackers can take advantage of the bug and gain access to a user’s browser history. Additionally, the bug can also identify the linked Google accounts. The issue was identified on Safari for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.
The issue wasn’t a big deal on macOS since users could use a different default browser. On iOS, however, users by default are led to the Safari browser for all their browsing needs. The update fixes the vulnerability on the Mac along with the iPhones and iPads.
Along with the Safari vulnerability, Apple ahs also released an update to fix the sync issues with iCloud. A 9To5 report cites developers confirming the issue to be fixed, although Apple did not give a reason behind it.
If you want to download the iOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3 updates, you will need to head to the Settings and go into General. Look for the option “Software Update”. Your iPhone and iPad will automatically check for a new update. Once detected, you will be asked to enter your passcode and grant permission to download the update.
After the update is downloaded, it will ask you to restart the device in order to successfully install the update.
