A Chrono Cross Unreal Engine 5 project, especially in light of how the recent re-release project was approached, has me interested.
If you’ve played Chrono Cross, odds are you remember Arni Village. It made an imprint on me when I first played it decades ago, and pieces of it are a part of the iconic intro. Like Final Fantasy villages before it (X comes to mind), the idyllic seaside town has a chill vibe that we absolutely need in 2022: that includes an Unreal Engine 5 rendition.
Crafted by Studio Logic, there’s a new version in tow (viewable below) that includes “a new shot, more landscape, props, and colors.” The music is a lovely guitar cover by Sam Griffin, which you can listen to here. Just listening to it and watching this screen saver go by: it’s still crazy to me to see people in 2022 who care about Chrono Cross. I thought I was one of the few, enjoying it in silence in a crowded 1999. It turns out there’s more than dozens of us!
You can also grab the Chrono Cross Unreal Engine 5 scene on Wallpaper Engine, where it clocks in at nearly 500MB. While some people might be tired of Unreal Engine project concepts, this one has done a great job of chilling out a busy day.
