Claims have been made that the new logo for Street Fighter 6 is a modified version of an $80 stock image.
Capcom officially announced the sixth game in the Street Fighter series on Monday, promising that more details would come in the summer.
The teaser trailer also showed the game’s new logo, which departs from the series’ iconic ‘sketch’ style lettering in favour of the letters SF in a hexagon.
However, as Ars Technica’s creative director Aurich Lawson noted on Twitter, the new logo is extremely similar to one available on the Adobe Stock Image website for $79.99.
“The new Street Fighter 6 logo is $80 on Adobe’s Stock site,” Lawson alleged. “I don’t even know what to say. I knew it was generic but I didn’t realise it was this bad. They searched for ‘SF’ on a stock logo site and rounded a couple corners and added the 6.”
The Adobe Stock Image product, which is called ‘SF FS logo design vector template’, isn’t exactly identical to the Street Fighter 6 logo. In Capcom’s logo the hexagon is thinner, the middle sections of the letters have been tilted down and some corners have been rounded off.
However, because Adobe’s logo is available to purchase as an AI/EPS file, this means it can be easily altered in Adobe Illustrator. The assumption being made, then, is that the logo was purchased and tweaked slightly.
