Street Fighter 6 Officially Announced By Capcom With Teaser Trailer
As expected, Capcom's recent weeklong countdown ended with an official reveal of the now eagerly-anticipated Street Fighter 6. Hopes for a Street Fighter 6 unveiling reached the stratosphere last week when Capcom started a countdown timer set to end on Sunday, February 20 at 10:00 PM PT. Needless to say, much of the internet quickly guessed the long-running fighting game series would constitute the main attraction. It didn't take long for Street Fighter 6 to begin trending on Twitter, either.
The last entry in the franchise, Street Fighter V, hit store shelves for PC and PS4 in early 2016. Its roster boasted 16 characters at launch, which, of course, included fan-favorite combatants such as Ryu and Chun-Li. In the six years since then, 30 other fighters have joined the ranks across five different season pass releases. The last of these content drops went live in November 2021, with Luke serving as Street Fighter 5's final DLC character. Interestingly, talk about a new entry began swirling in late 2020 following the Capcom data breach, wherein leaked details claimed Street Fighter 6 wouldn't launch as a PlayStation exclusive like its predecessor. Capcom will more than likely have to confirm or deny as much in the coming months.

Not long after Capcom's countdown ended last night, the storied Japanese publisher let loose news that's been a long time coming — Street Fighter 6 is indeed on the way. A 40-second teaser trailer accompanied the reveal, complete with series mainstay Ryu going head-to-head against newcomer Luke. The trailer didn't offer much in the way of concrete details, though a follow-up post on the official Capcom Twitter account
