With an adventure as epic as the one told in and its predecessor,, there is a plethora of content to enjoy. Although the storyline will continue in the next game of this trilogy, there may still be more that a player wants to see and do with Cloud and the party within the adventure of. The game is designed as a full standalone title, and even those who played the original will find surprises and new engaging things to hold their interest in .
Even beyond the main storyline, has engaging side quests, a full open-world to explore, and creative minigames that make the experience even more delightful, which would be a shame to miss out on. However, it's not clear from the outset whether the game can continue to be played after the story of ends, or if that ends the playthrough. Particularly with the game having some pretty extensive work to meet the PlayStation platinum trophy requirements, it is good to know whether the end is actually the end.
After completing the main story for, a prompt appears to make a new save file of the completed run of the game. After the file is saved, players can continue to replay chapters of the game by going to the Chapter Selection screen. Selecting a chapter will give the option to play it with the current characters' levels, weapons, material, and relationship status, or play it on Hard difficulty.
Once a chapter is set to be played on Hard difficulty, it cannot be changed again once beginning the chapter.
The PlayStation platinum trophy requirements need every chapter to be completed on Hard, but even simply going back and replaying chapters on the normal settings can be fun and allow players to see things they missed. All minigames can be played again by going to their respective chapter, and many previously missed open-world activities can be discovered.
