Reports are showing that Modern Warfare 3’s file size is absolutely massive. Call of Duty game files are notoriously large, but how big is Modern Warfare 3 exactly?
Supposedly, the entire Modern Warfare 3 file size is around 213GB. That’s a very hefty file size even for COD standards. For reference, Apex Legends is around 56GB, Rainbow Six Siege is around 85GB, and Destiny 2 is around 108GB. It seems like every year, COD takes more GB from us.
I doubt Modern Warfare 3’s campaign and multiplayer will be the only things contributing to the supposed 213GB. In my opinion, I think that includes Warzone, DMZ, and Modern Warfare Zombies… at least that’s what I’m hoping. We won’t know for sure until we get to load Modern Warfare 3 ourselves.
On my PlayStation 5, Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty Warzone already take up around 200GB. Players are reporting that the new COD update to prepare for MW3 is around 21GB. Slowly but surely, COD will take over every GB on your PC, Xbox, or PlayStation.

The Modern Warfare 3 Campaign pre-load is available on Xbox. Check your Manage Game installs. The Campaign is 51GB.
Regardless of your device, I highly recommend sorting through your COD downloads and uninstalling things you aren’t using. For instance, if you won’t be playing MW2 after MW3 comes out, go into your files and uninstall MW2. Just because all COD games are found in one place doesn’t mean you have to
