A Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild player recently discovered that the game’s hulking Lynels may be smarter than they look when they attempted to take a selfie with one. Nintendo’s latest dungeon-crawling RPG blockbuster is rich in details and hidden AI behaviors, with players discovering new things even five years after Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild launched to near-universal acclaim on the Nintendo Switch in 2017. From obtaining the legendary Master Sword early to breaking open the seemingly invincible steel treasure chests littering the realm of Hyrule, there seems to be no shortage of new ways for players to enjoy BOTW outside of the main quest to defeat the evil Calamity Gannon.
Some of these newly-discovered tricks and secrets are centered around the Lynels, the muscular centaur-like creatures that roam The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s open-world setting of Hyrule. While these multicolored enemies can be a formidable opponent for Link due to their incredible strength and crushing melee weapons, many players have found interesting and creative ways to take them down — such as defeating a BOTW Lynel without wearing any armor and wielding a simple stick. Outside of combat, Breath of the Wild players have gone cliff-diving with Lynels to surprisingly disastrous results, and the giant brutes have been known to pose for a quick selfie before teleporting away. These interactions can lead to some impressive clips and pictures.
