Ocarina of Time Unreal Engine 5 Fan Remake Shows Off Incredible Water Effects
Video game creation has certainly come a long way, even in just a short amount of time. With many game development engines out there like Unreal and Unity, now is as good a time as any for those interested in making their own games, either professionally or otherwise. It's also possible to use a modern engine to breathe new life into much older releases, which is exactly what this one fan has done for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64, Ocarina of Time has understandably aged over the past decade and a half, but that's where developer CryZENx comes into the picture. A recent video on their YouTube channel shows what the game looks like when it's remade in Unreal Engine 5, the latest iteration of Epic Games' powerful development tool. More specifically, the footage aims to show off the water effects, which, through the much more up-to-date engine, looks absolutely spectacular.

Link can be seen wandering around the shores, splashing about in the sea, and even taking a dive to show viewers underneath the water. It really does show off both the might of UE5, as well as the skill that's gone into bringing this near quarter of a century old game screaming into the modern era. It's also not the first time CryZENx has done something like this. They've also reimagined Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 4. While that remake was done in the previous version of the engine, it still looks incredible, especially when compared to the original N64 title's graphics.
