While Boba Fett has a well-earned reputation as the Star Wars galaxy’s deadliest bounty hunter, an issue of Star Wars Tales proves that he doesn’t need his armor and a vast arsenal of weaponry. Boba Fett’s reputation, which he more than lives up to in the Star Wars Legends continuity, inevitably leads to other bounty hunters wishing to defeat him so that their own reputations flourish. One attempt on Boba Fett’s life caught him completely off-guard, but the Mandalorian bounty hunter nevertheless prevailed.
Though Star Wars Legends briefly replaced Boba Fett with Jodo Kast, the genuine article was an important character. Boba Fett is rarely seen without his iconic suit of green beskar armor, which, like most Mandalorian suits, is covered in weapons in addition to being made of metal plating that even a lightsaber can’t cut through. Boba Fett is sometimes referred to as a walking arsenal, and it took a notably long time for him to completely disarm in the Legends-era Han Solo novel trilogy. Though Boba Fett retrieving his armor during The Mandalorian is an important plot point in continuity, in Legends it's clear he never needed it. With weapons and devices for every occasion, it’s easy to forget that Boba Fett’s greatest tools as a bounty hunter are not his blasters and Mandalorian weaponry.

“Number Two in the Galaxy,” a story in the 18th issue of Star Wars Tales by Henry Gilroy and Todd Demong, has the Corellian bounty hunter Risso Nu ambush Boba Fett on Ma'ar Shaddam.
