Bloomberg: Saber Interactive to split from Embracer Group in $500 million deal
gematsu.comEmbracer Group will sell Saber Interactive to a group of private investors in a deal worth up to $500 million, according to a Bloomberg report citing a person familiar with the transaction.
The deal will see Saber Interactive become a privately owned company with around 3,500 employees. The company plans to continue developing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake after being moved from previous developer and Saber Interactive subsidiary Aspyr in 2022.
The sale will be one of Embracer Group’s biggest moves yet in its ongoing cost-cutting initiative that has resulted in various layoffs and studio closures.
Saber Interactive is the parent company of the following Embracer Group subsidiaries: 3D Realms, 34BigThings, 4A Games, Aspyr, Beamdog, Bytex, Demiurge Studios, DIGIC Pictures, Fractured Byte, Mad Head Games, New World Interactive, Nimble Giant Entertainment, Sandbox Strategies, Slipgate Ironworks, Shiver, SPL, Snapshot Games, TripWire Interactive, Tuxedo Labs, Zen Studios.
According to the report, the $500 million deal includes an option for Saber Interactive to bring along multiple Embracer Group subsidiaries.
Representatives for both Saber Interactive and Embracer Group declined to comments when contacted by Bloomberg.
