A fully playable demo for Trails through Daybreak will drop on the 4th June, giving eager fans just over a month to test the RPG out before its full release on the 5th July.
Daybreak is coming to both PS5 and PS4, but it should be noted that this demo is releasing on PS4 only. We don't exactly know why that's the case, but PS5 owners will obviously be able to play it via backwards compatibility.
The demo is made up of the adventure's prologue and its first chapter, so you're looking at a few hours of gameplay at the very least. What's more, the progress that you make can be carried over to the full game — and yes, that includes transferring your PS4 demo save to the PS5 version of the finished release.
If you're at all interested in the Trails games, we'd definitely recommend giving this demo a shot. Daybreak is the first title in the series' latest saga, and in a lot of ways, it's looking to be a real step forward for the franchise.

Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, he's played 'em all — a little too much, some might say.
Looking forward to this, but the demo being PS4 only is a huge turn off? I don't trust that I could import my save data from the PS4 into the PS5 version once bought....
Still, no loss of sale, I'll be buying it anyway
This is my big game of 2024.
No need to play the demo. They had me at Trails.
I wish these games were better. They’re just anime tropes on anime tropes coupled with a bunch of yapping in the name of world building. Hope this entry brings the story telling and gameplay up a level.
Is this series like Persona at all?
@Zeroo The tropes are there because a lot of people like them.
