If you’re wanting to play some older Battlefield games online, then you might have to wait until later today. EA has taken Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline & Battlefield 1 offline for scheduled server maintenance.
Starting at 8AM UTC, maintenance is scheduled to take 8 hours, and so all four games should be back online around 4PM UTC.
We’ll be running maintenance on Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline & Battlefield 1 on 15th March at 8 AM UTC for about 8 hours. While we’re working you won't be able to play online, but we’ll get you back in the game as soon as we can.

With the games having originally released between 2011 and 2016, there’s bound to be some significant backend updates needed to keep things running smoothly. It’s great to see DICE and EA keep putting in the resources to keep them going, with Battlefield 4 in particular still having a large fanbase, and even Battlefield Hardline having its fans.
The two most recent Battlefield games – Battlefield V and Battlefield 2042 – are unaffected by this maintenance and will continue to be online through the day. That’s good news for BF3 and BF4 fans, as Battlefield Portal which is built into BF 2042 will allow you to play some classic maps remastered for the new game and with the original weapons. It’s not quite the same experience, but it’s a nice fallback at a trying time such as this.
Alternatively, you could just play Battlefield 2042 itself. While the game was not well received at launch, DICE has been working hard to turn things around with a major system reworks, like the re-addition of a class system, and new maps and weapons alongside each season of content.
