Leslie Grace confirms her DCEU film Batgirl is entering its final week of filming. A movie centered on Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl, has been in the works for years now, with now-controversial creator Joss Whedon initially being attached to write and direct the film back in 2017. Since then, Batgirl has changed hands and will now be directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Bad Boys for Life). Christina Hodson, the screenwriter behind other DCEU films like Birds of Prey and The Flash, has penned the script. Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but Batgirl is expected to debut on HBO Max later this year.
Warner Bros. had a long list of contenders for the role of Barbara, but in the end, it was In the Heights breakout Grace who nabbed the role. Batgirl marks her DCEU debut, and she'll be joined by franchise alums J.K. Simmons and Michael Keaton, who reprise their roles of Commissioner Jim Gordon and Bruce Wayne/Batman, respectively. Batgirl also stars Brendan Fraser as the villain Firefly; though this is his first official foray into the DCEU, Fraser is also one of the main stars of the DC series Doom Patrol.

Production on Batgirl got underway back in November, and now it seems to be approaching its end. On Sunday, Grace posted a series of behind the scenes pictures in honor of the final week of filming getting underway. Though fans will be hard pressed to find more shots of Grace as Barbara, they can see her current hairstyle (which is likely Barbara's as well) and read her sweet words.
