Some new Barbie fans posters turn Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling into plastic dolls. A live-action Barbie movie has been in the works for quite some time, with initial reports emerging as far back as 2009. Several big names have been attached to the project — from Diablo Cody and Amy Schumer, to Anne Hathaway. However, Robbie was officially announced as the film’s lead in early 2019 before Gosling was confirmed to be playing Barbie’s boyfriend Ken in October 2021.Barbie also stars Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, and Michael Cera.
Oscar-nominated director Greta Gerwig (Ladybird, Little Women) is helming Barbie and co-wrote the script alongside Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story). The adaptation is being produced by Warner Bros. and Mattel Films, the film production division of the toy manufacturing company best known for creating the original Barbie dolls. As Barbie is currently filming in England, a first official look at Robbie’s titular character and, more recently, Gosling as a shirtless Ken, have been released. The images teased Barbie's technicolor setting and the uncanny accuracy of both Robbie and Gosling's live-action iterations of the beloved dolls.
