Eva Mendes has shared her reaction to Ryan Gosling's look as Ken from the upcoming Barbie live-action movie. While the eponymous Mattel toy line has spawned an entire multimedia franchise consisting of a series of computer-animated movies and TV specials, the upcoming movie by Little Women helmer Greta Gerwig is the first live-action film to be based on the fashion doll. Previously, Barbie was being developed at other studios, with Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway attached as the earlier choices for the title role. But after WB acquired the rights to the film, Margot Robbie was cast to play Barbie, with Ryan Gosling later joining as Ken, Barbie's male counterpart.
While plot details on Barbie continue to remain tight, WB has been generous enough to tide fans over with some early images from the movie. During its CinemaCon presentation in April, the studio unveiled the very first look at Robbie's character, as she posed in her iconic convertible against a signature Barbie-style bright pink set, bearing a bright smile and channeling classic outfits. Then earlier this month, the studio broke the internet after it dropped a look at Gosling's Ken from Barbie. Authentically rendering the male doll's appearance, the two-time Oscar nominee looked stunningly incredible in the new image, with his beach-blonde hair, cut-off stone-washed denim jacket, and glowing physique sending Twitter into a frenzy. Fan reactions to Gosling's Ken have been overwhelmingly positive, and now the actor's partner has shared an opinion about his characterization.
