A Barbie set video captures the first sound of Margot Robbie's voice as the titular doll in the upcoming live-action film from Greta Gerwig. The popular Mattel toy has led countless animated adaptations in recent years. However, Barbie's journey to live-action has been fraught with various changes involving its writer, director, lead cast, and even studio. Amy Schumer was originally tapped to write and star in Barbie, though she dropped out due to creative differences, paving the way for Anne Hathaway to enter talks.
After the live-action Barbie movie moved from Sony to Warner Bros., the long-gestating project finally started coming together. The two-time Oscar nominated Robbie now leads the Barbie cast as the beloved blonde fashion doll alongside fellow two-time Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling as her male counterpart, Ken. Lady Bird and Little Women's Gerwig directs the live-action Barbie movie, based on a screenplay she co-wrote with her frequent collaborator Noah Baumbach. Plot details are still being kept under wraps, which has so far only served to increase excitement online. Now, yet another intriguing look at the film has surfaced online.
