Bandai Namco makes job cuts
pcgamesinsider.bizJapanese firm Bandai Namco has made job cuts to its games division.
Bloomberg reports that since April, around 200 members of staff have been moved to 'oidashi beya' or 'expulsion rooms', areas that Japanese companies use to pressure employees into leaving a company. Bandai Namco Studios has denied that such a policy exists under its roof.
“Our decisions to discontinue games are based on comprehensive assessments of the situation. Some employees may need to wait a certain amount of time before they are assigned their next project, but we do move forward with assignments as new projects emerge,” a Bandai Namco rep said.
“There is no organization like an ‘oidashi beya’ at Bandai Namco Studios designed to pressure people to leave voluntarily.”
That 200 staff represents 15 per cent of its 1,300 total headcount.
This news comes hot on the heels of the company launching its latest Dragon Ball title, Sparking Zero, which has rolled out to critical and commercial acclaim.
