The Baldur's Gate 3 True Soul mechanic involves the use of Illithid Wisdom. With it, you'll start listening more to the voices in your head, leading to easy skill checks in dialogue sequences. Our guide discusses what this feature entails early in the campaign.
To become a Baldur's Gate 3 True Soul, you'll need to use Illithid Wisdom in specific dialogue conversations at least seven times. This concept is made known to you during the prologue aboard the Nautiloid. A Mindflayer puts a tadpole in your character's eye, and it slowly burrows in their head. Naturally, the main quest tasks you with getting rid of it.
Still, there are key instances when a dialogue option appears, allowing you to choose the Baldur's Gate 3 Illithid Wisdom response. Selecting this bypasses other skill checks and, with a ridiculously low requirement for dice rolls, you'll pretty much succeed.
However, Illithid Wisdomcan only be used after a long rest--short rests and partial rests don't count. An animation showing a red brand will imply that you can use Illithid Wisdom on the NPC. However, if you haven't done a long rest yet, it will simply say that your power is «silent» or «dormant.» As such, you'll either need seven Camp Supplies, or have enough food to reach a value of 40 (which is equivalent to a single Camp Supply) each rest.
