Baldur's Gate 3's Deluxe Edition copies should finally start shipping out now - as long as you've bought it on PC. Anyone who placed an order for a console version of the Deluxe Edition will have to wait at least another month, as the new expected shipping date on PS5 and Xbox Series X is between April and May.
Larian cites "production issues" as the reason for the console dates being pushed back, but adds that it doesn't anticipate the Deluxe Edition getting delayed again. The hold-up is likely related to getting the game on discs since the PC version doesn't have any, instead coming packaged with a download code.
As part of this update on the Deluxe Edition, Larian once again confirms that the game will be spread across four discs on Xbox. It will only take up two discs on PS5, but it doesn't seem that this will get it into the hands of anyone who ordered it on the Sony platform any faster, as both console releases are lumped together here.
Despite this, a staggered release across platforms is nothing new for Baldur's Gate 3 fans. The game came to PC in August 2023, then to PS5 a month later, before finally getting an Xbox Series X/S port in December. These were all digital-only releases, but that's finally set to change once the Deluxe Edition ships.
As Larian has stressed in the past, the Deluxe Edition is not a limited edition, so you can ignore any scalpers selling their orders online. If you order now though, you may have to wait a little longer than anyone who made a purchase as soon as the Deluxe Edition was announced, as the website says that it's being shipped in waves. The PC edition is listed as being out of stock right now, but the page says that more will become available.
As physical copies finally get closer to release, Larian is still very much supporting Baldur's Gate 3 with updates. We even got a hotfix yesterday that removed some cut content that made its way back into the game, causing Minthara to dump the player under certain conditions.
