A Baldur's Gate 3 player has found what might be one of the most frustrating deaths in Honour Mode, as Gale's dead body brings their run to an end. Withers gets some of the blame too, as he inadvertently kills the player while trying to resurrect a fallen Gale.
This accidental death was discovered by Reddit user Scarfington7, who shares how a recent Honour Mode run came to an abrupt end, right as they were about to salvage it. After three party members were killed in battle, they managed to get their Tav to safety with just a single hitpoint left. So, they fled to camp to get Withers to resurrect everyone, and that's where it all went wrong.
As part of Withers' resurrection animation, he first teleports the dead body in front of him, before casting True Resurrection on it. Normally, this is fine, since he always teleports them onto an empty space. However, as you may remember, Gale's dead body has a unique effect - necrotic aura - which deals damage to anyone who gets too close. And since his body had to be teleported into camp to be resurrected... well, I think you can guess how the run came to an end.
"I clicked the 'Resurrect all' button and... Game over," says Scarfington7. "Withers summoned his body, and before his magical girl revival animation could play - the aura took me out within a few frames."
Understandably, they're not best pleased with this death. "I've attempted Honour Mode a few times now. This defeat hurts the most because it's the cheesiest way to go out."
So, if Gale is part of your Honour Mode strategy, make sure you stand well away from Withers when he's being resurrected. But you'll probably want him in your party anyway, since using the Gale bomb at the end of Act 3 is a great strategy that avoids the final boss altogether.
