Larian Studios has suggested that anyone experiencing "sudden crashes" while playing Baldur's Gate 3 on PS5 take their consoles offline as a workaround while it investigates the root cause of the error, which appears to be tied to the PlayStation Network.
“Some PS5 players are experiencing sudden Baldur’s Gate 3 crashes in what appears to be a PSN-related issue,” read a post from the Baldur’s Gate 3 game account on X. “We’re investigating the problem, but for now, the workaround is to disconnect your PS5 from the internet.”

As noted by Eurogamer, many players were irked by the disruption to their online campaigns, while others were simply grateful for the temporary workaround, and relieved that the issue seemingly wouldn’t affect their save files.
The latest entry into the storied RPG franchise landed on PS5 on September 6 earlier this month. Despite being an impressive all round console port with graphics equivalent to ultra settings on PC, it also had its fair share of issues, with local split screen performance once again proving to be a weak point, particularly for players splitting up to explore different parts of a city in Act 3 of the sprawling RPG.
Larian is set to deploy the third major Baldur’s Gate 3 patch on September 21 in just a few days time, which will bring full Mac support for the game, and, hopefully a slew of other updates and fixes.
