The upcoming Marvel Studios ensemble movie has found its writer — and he already has experience with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Deadline has reported that Loki creator and writer Michael Waldron will be writing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. This move means that Waldron will be writing both of the upcoming Avengers films, as he was already set to write Avengers: Secret Wars.
Outside of these two projects, Waldron has a fair amount of experience when it comes to writing within the MCU. In addition to Loki, Waldron wrote Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness — the 2022 sequel to Doctor Strange.
The Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’s release date is set for May 1, 2026. It was previously dated a year prior for May 2, 2025. It joined a lengthy list of Marvel delays as many movies saw rewrites and were impacted by the entertainment industry strikes that took place throughout 2023. Just recently, Deadpool 3 was pushed back to July 26, 2024.
According to Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige during a panel, both of the new Avengers films are currently planned to be the final entries in Phase 6 of the MCU, which will begin with the introduction of the Fantastic Four.
