A teenager from Jersey City, she acquires superpowers thanks to a mysterious bangle. While Ms. Marvel signals the start of a new narrative in the MCU, it also highlights a big problem regarding its sustainability.
On the heels of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios has been focused on rebuilding the MCU. With half of the original Avengers line-up no longer active heroes and other characters back to doing their own missions, the franchise is leaning on gradually setting up different corners of the universe for an inevitable second Endgame-style event. While there is no end in sight for the MCU — with plans reportedly stretching all the way to 2032 — its continued success is not guaranteed, and much of its longevity hinges on how this transition period pans out.
