Announcing Arkham Horror The Roleplaying game, this next chapter, although very different from what has come before, aims to appeal to both Arkham Horror stalwarts and RPG aficionados alike.
Arkham Horror The Roleplaying Game's starter set will be available to buy from August 2, 2024, at which time Gen Con attendees will get the chance to take it for a spin. All of the Arkham Horror elements synonymous with the series are here, but instead of moving your assigned character around a board, you will become them. Embark on a journey with twists and turns, your decisions and dice rolls determining what happens next, and the fate of Arkham itself.
Not only do Arkham Horror's creators claim potential players of the series' first roleplaying game don't need prior RPG experience, but you also don't need to know anything about Arkham Horror. With board games, card games, and expansions, getting into a series with so much history can be a little daunting. Whether you're into RPGs or not, if you've Arkham Horror has appealed to you before but you didn't know where to begin, here's your chance to hop aboard the bandwagon.
You naturally won't need to already own anything else from the Arkham Horror series to play its RPG. This is entirely new and everything you'll need to start playing is included with the starter set pictured above. The game master's board, a 48-page adventure booklet, and five character sheets so up to six people can play (five characters plus the game master). It also boasts a dynamic pool system that claims to keep things simple for beginners via its six-sided dice, which are also included, but gets strategically deep as you become more adept at the game.
