The has been confirmed and the latest trailer teases at his upgraded powers. With Black Manta losing to Aquaman in the first movie, he’s had to make some enhancements in the hopes of finally being able to take down the superhero.
While he played a significant role in the first movie, teaming up with Aquaman’s half-brother as the movie’s pair of villains. Aquaman managed to defeat his half-brother Orm and Black Manta, with the latter beaten and broken, but still alive. In The Lost Kingdom, Black Manta is looking to get revenge on Aquaman and “everything he holds dear.”
It remains to be seen how Aquaman deals with Black Manta in the sequel. After letting him live once, perhaps it’s time for Black Manta to finally be dealt with for good, or perhaps there’s a change of heart waiting to happen.
Black Manta is a skilled assassin and tactician who is at the peak of human physical condition. Though he has no powers bestowed through genetics, he is enhanced by the Manta Suit.
The Manta Suit gives Black Manta superheroic abilities including invulnerability and super strength. It also makes him incredibly maneuverable underwater, which is obviously handy when going toe-to-toe with Aquaman.
Additionally, Black Manta arms himself with a wide range of weaponry that he wields masterfully. His marksman abilities are enhanced by the helmet of his Manta Suit, which gives him night and infrared vision.
