Apple Watch can now track your sleep in a much more detailed manner – thanks to watchOS 9. The latest software update to all supported Apple Watch models now allows users to track their sleep data in a more detailed fashion akin to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and other fitness focused watches. What's surprising is that it took Apple a couple of years to bring this feature to the Apple Watch that most affordable fitness trackers have been offering as standard.
Sadly, the Apple Watch still cannot track sleep on its own and it requires the user to put it into Sleep mode to do so. “Users will see sleep stage data on Apple Watch in the Sleep app and can view more detailed information, like time asleep, alongside additional metrics, like heart rate and respiratory rate, in sleep comparison charts in the Health app on iPhone,” says Apple.
Additionally, the Sleep app still allows users to create their Wind Down and Bedtime schedules, which is synchronised with all other Apple devices registered to the Apple ID account.
