Valve has replaced the old stats page on Steam with a new charts section(Opens in a new window) that tracks both the top selling PC games and those that are being played the most.
This dedicated new section is called "Steam Charts(Opens in a new window)." The overview page provides quick summaries of which games are selling well, how many users are online, and the most played titles. There's also links to view weekly top sellers and the top new releases for any given month.
The real-time charts are split between top sellers and most played. Both offer an ever-changing list of the top 100 entries for each category. For top sellers(Opens in a new window), the chart lists game name, rank, price, and information about whether a game is pre-purchase and/or in a sale. Valve also offers information on number of weeks on the chart, weekly change in rank, and total revenue for each game. Additionally, it's possible to use a region switcher option for country-specific chart information.
For the most played(Opens in a new window) real-time chart, the information is more limited and shows rank, name, price, current players, and peak players for the current day. Of course, any sales are also highlighted to tempt us into a possible purchase.
The weekly chart(Opens in a new window) lists the top 100 best-selling games based on revenue for the week, how long a game has been on the charts, and its rank change. Valve also allows easy access to previous weekly charts for comparison all the way back to 2005. And for monthly top new releases(Opens in a new window), each game is listed with more detail including a description, tags, developer, publisher, price, and user review rating.
