With Halloween just around the corner, one Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan has chosen to share their spooky tribute to the Disney family film Hocus Pocus. The Halloween-themed film about a group of children trying to outsmart a trio of mischievous witches just received a sequel on streaming service Disney+, making this the perfect time to check out this cute homage before streaming Hocus Pocus 2.
Released in 1993 by Walt Disney Pictures, Hocus Pocus follows the adventures of a group of kids as they try to save the town of Salem, Massachusetts from the Sanderson Sisters, a trio of wacky witches played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy. The fantasy comedy film performed poorly at the box office, garnering negative reviews from audiences and critics, but has become a cult classic Halloween movie among fans in the nearly 30 years since its release. Hocus Pocus isn’t the only Halloween movie to receive some love from players of Nintendo’s hit social simulation game, though, with one fan recently recreating a scene from The Exorcist in Animal Crossing: New Horizons in suitably disgusting detail.

In the post shared on the Animal Crossing subreddit, user TonyClifton323 shows the Sanderson Sisters standing around a cauldron in a decrepit and torch-lit basement in a scene created in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The three witchy sisters all wear long dresses similar to their outfits from Hocus Pocus and its sequel, and small touches like a black cat in the background and cobwebs on the chandelier above their heads help to complete the cute and creepy picture.
